In Australia, they are generally called "stay ups", our British counterparts call them "hold ups", and in the USA they are referred to as "thigh highs". No matter what they're called, the constant is that they're all a modern reinvention of stockings. Stay ups don't need any fasteners or clips; instead they have a concealed inner silicone band that— when placed correctly midway on your upper thigh—will remain in place.
